BC Mountaineering Club | Sailing | Diving | Photography pages | Australian Holiday I took an extended vacation to Australia from the 29th of May to the 15th of July, 2002 and these are the photos from the trip. The photos take a chronological approach from my arrival in Western Australia - to Sydney and then on to Sunny Queensland. And, as an aside, I flew back to Vancouver at the end of the holiday, headed out to the North Cascade Mountains (see the Liberty Bell photos) and then started working for Mountain Equipment Co-op in Vancouver (mec.ca). Two thousand and two was quite the year! Originally, a "Reunion Party" was hatched with my two high school friends Roy Durre and Tim Forell while we were on vacation in Florida in the late 1990's (few years ago!). Eventually the party took on a life of its own (as they do). This was to be a "Big Chill" event and, as several of our group were turning fifty (gasp), it seemed like an auspicious occasion [55 is coming now]. My sincere thanks to everyone who attended the gathering and particularly Roy Durre who motivated some 60-70 people to come along. Thanks also to Debbie and Glen and many others who also did some motivating of their own. Thanks must go to Tim, Linda and family (the 4L's) who flew in from California, Paul Strutynski and family who drove up from Canberra, Robby Kaulker who flew up from Victoria and the countless others who drove in from all over (like Gab and Tony) to attend.
